CNA Certification in CO
In order to become certified in the State of Colorado as a nurse aide, you are required to successfully complete a State Board of Nursing approved CNA classes in Colorado. There are number of state approved programs which can be found at community colleges, vocational schools, nursing homes and hospitals. Online training is also becoming popular.
You will also need to pass both parts of the competency evaluation. Much like the training classes, the exam is broken up in to a written and hands-on skills testing. Once you have successfully completed your CNA classes in Colorado and the competency evaluation exam, you will be eligible to be listed in the State Board of Nurse Aide Registry.
Maintaining Your Certification
Your certification as a nurse aide is good for 2 years. You should receive a renewal notice 30 to 60 days before expiration. You will need to have at least 8 consecutive work hours of paid compensation during the past 2 years.
