CNA Certification in GA
The first step to becoming a certified nursing aide is successfully completing the training program which is 85 hours long and includes at least 24 hours of clinical or practical rotation. The next step to CNA certification is taking and passing the competency evaluation examination. This exam is split in to both a multiple choice and hands-on demonstration of the skills and knowledge learned through the CNA classes in Georgia.
Maintaining your Certification
As a certified nursing aide in Georgia, your certification status must be renewed every 2 years in order to maintain active and listed on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry. You must complete at least 8 hours of paid work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse every 24 months for re-certification. If unable to work at least 8 hours every 24 months, the CNA must pass the competency evaluation examination once again.
