Once you have successfully completed your training at any of the CNA classes in Minnesota, you will need to take and pass the competency exam. This exam is taken in two parts with a multiple choice test and a hands-on demonstration. You must receive a passing grade on both parts of the exam to be successful. After passing the competency exam, you are then eligible to be listed in the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry which allows you to be work as a CNA.
Maintaining Your Certification
Your certification and listing in the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry must be kept active. To keep your certification active, you must work and get paid for at least 8 hours as a nursing assistant every 24 months. If you do not meet these criteria during 24 consecutive months, your name will be listed as inactive on the Registry.
